The 2020 Subaru Impreza Remains at the Head of Both the Sedan and Hatchback Classes

The 2020 Subaru Impreza is available in both a sedan and a hatchback body style, and the design and capability of both are exceptional. Spacious, efficient, versatile, and tech filled, the Subaru Impreza distances itself from the competition in a variety of ways, but its standard all-wheel drive will probably interest Albany car shoppers the most.

While we believe that the Subaru Impreza delivers more of what drivers are looking for, we know that competing models also have a lot to offer, so we've highlighted several of the ways that the Impreza bests two of its main competitors, the 2020 Ford Fusion and 2020 Honda Civic. You can find out more below.

2020 Subaru Impreza vs. 2020 Honda Civic

  • The 2020 Impreza near Kingston offers a sedan or hatchback body style, much like the 2020 Civic, but the Subaru models will cost you less than Honda's.
  • All-wheel drive isn't standard on the 2020 Honda Civic near Albany, but the Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive that you trust is available from the base trim of the 2020 Impreza.
  • Both models can offer a manual transmission for the base trims, but the Civic fails to offer a manual transmission on higher trims, and it won't offer an automatic transmission on the base trim like the Impreza.
  • While the 2020 Impreza gives you a lineartronic 7-speed automatic transmission, the 2020 Civic will only offer a 2-speed automatic transmission on select trim levels.
  • Both the 2020 Impreza sedan and Impreza hatchback can provide you with more passenger volume than the 2020 Civic sedan or Civic hatchback.
  • In the 2020 Impreza models, Gardiner drivers get more front and rear headroom, front legroom, and rear shoulder room than the 2020 Civic models. In the 2020 Impreza hatchback, you'll also get more rear legroom than the 2020 Civic hatchback.
  • In the 2020 Civic, you get the Honda Sensing System standard, which offers Collision Mitigation Braking, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keeping System. With the 2020 Impreza, you get Blind-Spot Detection and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Rear-Vision Camera and Reverse Automatic Braking, and EyeSight Driver Assist Technology with Automatic Pre-Collision Braking and Lane Keep Assist.
  • In the 2020 Honda Civic, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available on the Sport trim level, rather than the LX trim level. The 2020 Subaru Impreza gives you these features on the base trim, plus you get an 8-inch touchscreen display, which is bigger than the 2020 Civic's 5-inch LCD screen.

2020 Subaru Impreza vs. 2020 Ford Fusion

  • The 2020 Impreza near Newburgh offers a sedan or hatchback body style, while the 2020 Fusion only offers a sedan body style option.
  • Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive is a standard feature on all Impreza trim levels, while the Ford Fusion only offers AWD as an option, so it'll cost you more to equip. The 2020 Fusion is already more expensive than the 2020 Impreza, so adding AWD will further increase your payments.
  • With the 2020 Ford Fusion, you won't get a manual transmission option, but on the 2020 Subaru Impreza near New Paltz, you'll have this offered on the base trim level.
  • Fuel economy in the 2020 Impreza is also significantly more generous than the fuel economy ratings in the 2020 Fusion. Drivers can get up to 36 mpg highway on the 2020 Impreza 5-Door option, while the Fusion only gives you up to 31 mpg highway.
  • The 2020 Impreza can offer you more front and rear headroom than the 2020 Fusion, plus with the Impreza hatchback, you'll get more cargo space than the Fusion sedan can offer you.
  • The NHTSA gave the 2020 Impreza a better rating for its Front-Passenger Crash Testing than the 2020 Fusion has received. The Impreza has gotten 5 Stars, while the 2020 Fusion has received only 3 Stars.
  • Smartphone integration is essential these days, and the 2020 Impreza offers the STARLINK Multimedia system standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an 8-inch touchscreen display. With the 2020 Fusion, you'll get the SYNC 3 option on the SE trim level, which offers smartphone integration, but at an additional cost.
  • Heated seats in the 2020 Impreza will cost you nearly $10,000 less than the 2020 Fusion, plus you get the option of a moonroof, which doesn't appear to be available in the Fusion.
  • If you want leather-trimmed upholstery, Woodstock, NY, Impreza drivers can find it for less while the Fusion will charge you more for this luxury.

The Subaru Impreza is more affordable, filled with more features in a roomier cabin, and safer than the competition whether you're looking at the sedan or hatchback style, so, if you want to find out more about it, you're always welcome at our Kingston dealership!
