How Does the New 2018 Subaru Outback Compare to the Competition?

Whether it's for the family, to get from point A to point B or to accommodate your busy active lifestyle, the new 2018 Subaru Outback offers everything you need to enjoy every outing around Kingston more than ever. With spacious comfort for five, plenty of cargo room and cutting edge entertainment and safety technology, the Outback is a great fit for families. With a rugged build, standard all-wheel drive and two impressive engine options, the Outback is also a great fit for the adventurer and explorer in you. Whatever your needs are, the Outback can accommodate them. To demonstrate its terrific ability and value, we're going to compare the new 2018 Outback to the new 2018 Toyota Highlander and 2018 Honda Pilot!

2018 Subaru Outback vs. 2018 Honda Pilot

  • The Outback starts at just $25,895 MSRP while the new Pilot starts at $30,900 MSRP. With the money you save choosing the Outback, you could upgrade to the Premium trim level and still have money left over.
  • The Pilot is a three row SUV, while the Outback is a two row SUV, and while the Pilot offers a larger cabin, if you're looking for comfortable seating for five, the Outback offers more rear legroom than the Pilot does.
  • The Outback achieves an estimated fuel economy of up to 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway while the Pilot achieves up to 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.
  • The Outback is more easily maneuverable than the Pilot, with a turning diameter of 36.1 feet compared to the 39.4 foot turning diameter of the Pilot.
  • The Outback comes equipped with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive while the Pilot comes equipped with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models will cost you even more.
  • The Outback offers 8.7-inches of ground clearance while the Pilot only offers 7.3-inches.

2018 Subaru Outback vs. 2018 Toyota Highlander

  • The new Outback starts at just $25,895 MSRP while the new Highlander starts at $31,030 MSRP, allowing you to save over $5,000 and even upgrade to the Limited trim level for a comparable price.
  • Every Outback comes with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, making it easy for you to take on the worst weather conditions in Poughkeepsie and the most rugged terrain around Wappingers Falls with ease. The Highlander, however, comes equipped with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models carry a larger price tag.
  • The Outback offers 8.7-inches of ground clearance while the Highlander only offers 8-inches of ground clearance.
  • From bicycling to kayaking to camping, the new Outback comes with standard raised roof rails, allowing you to bring all your equipment along on your journey. The Highlander does not come with standard roof rails.
  • The standard Starlink multimedia system in the Outback comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The Toyota Entune system doesn't offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and instead relies on its own Bluetooth connected menu.
